Cornell Community Consolidated School District 426 Board of Education met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Cornell Community Grade School District #426 held it monthly Board meeting at the Cornell Grade School on June 19th, 2019. The meeting was called to order by President Pinkerton at 6:30 p.m.

Roll Call: Fortner- present; Groves–present; Hansen-present; Pinkerton-present; Ruddy-present; Schumm- present; Van Weelden-present.

The Board welcomed the following guest and visitors to the meeting: None

Public Comment: None

Communications- No Communications.

Motion to approve Special Meeting Minutes from 05/15/2019 made by Ruddy, seconded by Pinkerton. Voice vote with all members approving. Motion carried.

Motion to approve Regular and Closed Minutes from 05/15/2019 made by

Van Weelden, seconded by Grove. Voice vote with all members approving. Motion carried.

Motion to approve Agenda with changes was made by Groves, seconded by Fortner. Voice vote with all members approving. Motion carried.

Superintendent Report- Graduation went great. Summer work is going great-mower is amazing and Dan loves it. Also got a weed eater, air compressor to help upkeep the school. Summer school is going really well.

Financial Report – Fund Balances as of 05/31/19: Financial reports were provided to the board in the board packet.

Going to talk to Lori about a few questions

Applied for $20,000 grant for the roof-wanting to do band room

Going to talk to Kings

Handed out a clean copy of the budget due June 30th

Motion to approve the Bills and Requisitions was made by Pinkerton, seconded by Schumm. Roll call: Fortner- yes; Groves–yes; Hansen-yes; Pinkerton-yes; Ruddy-yes; Schumm- yes; Van Weelden-yes Motion carried.

Old Board Business:

Roof Grant/ Wallace McIntyre- received a thank you letter for the head stone in his father’s name

New Board Business

LCSSU New Facility in Flanagan-Is now located at the Old Sam in Flanagan. Will be recieiving a bill from them to help with the contraction, getting things set up and just keeping it running-more info in July

Basketball Hoop Repair and old playground equipment removal-Rick Bennet will take out old equipment and fix the basketball hoop for $250 and price of concrete.

Substitute pay-increase to $90

Abolish working cash fund-every year

Health Insurance-talked to Donna no changes and will cost a little more.

Teacher Resignations: Kindergarten-Closed

Kindergarten Teaching Position-Closed

Music Band Position-Closed

Non-Certified Staff Compensation/Salaries for 2019-2020-tabled

Motion to go into Closed Session for Personnel Matters:

The Board of Education will go into closed session to discuss the "appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance or dismissal of specific employees of Cornell Grade School (5 ILCS 120/2 © (1)). Motion made by Pinkerton, seconded by Groves. Voice vote with all members approving. Entered Closed Session @ 6:50p.m. And returned from @ 7:07p.m.

Approve Non-Certified staff compensation/salaries for 2019-2020, -Tabled

Approve Hiring of Joanie Schrock for Music/Band Position 2019-2020, Motion made by Hansen, seconded by Groves. Fortner - yes; Groves - yes; Hansen – yes; Pinkerton - yes; Ruddy - yes; Schumm – yes; Van Weelden – yes. Motion carried

Approve Hiring of Amber Christensen for Kindergarten Teacher 2019-2020, Motion made by Ruddy, seconded by Schumm. Fortner - yes; Groves - yes; Hansen – yes; Pinkerton - yes; Ruddy - yes; Schumm – yes; Van Weelden – yes. Motion carried

Open Matters of Discussion – Board Input –Asked Superintendent Schoonover when gym floor will be complete, he is going to get ahold of Todd to see when available.
