Rep. Dan Brady, R-Bloomington, participated in this year's Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics earlier this month.
The Special Olympics Illinois Polar Plunge is held annually across the state, with this year's event covering 14 locations. The event has raised more than $22 million over the past 21 years in the state.
Volunteers who would like to participate in the event can do so by registering here. This year's event began on Feb. 15 in Peoria, and will wrap up Sunday, March 22 in Palatine.
Registration for the event requires a minimum donation of $100 per participant, and participants are grouped in teams of five. SUPER Plungers, who raise at least $2,500 for the event, are provided a heated tent for their recovery. All participants are encouraged to wear costumes and enjoy the festive atmosphere of the event.
Funds raised by the event are used to support Special Olympics athletes, providing transportation, medals, sports equipment and travel for thousands of participants.
Brady represents the 105th Legislative District.
