City of Bloomington issued the following announcement on March 27.
Connect Transit is extending the suspension of fare collection on all transportation services until April 14, 2020. This includes Connect Transit fixed-route bus service and Connect Mobility paratransit service.
“I want to thank all of the Connect employees for their extraordinary work during this crisis to provide transportation to our community,” said Connect Transit General Manager Isaac Thorne. “I also want to thank our customers for being patient with us as we are making quick and decisive changes to protect them and operators.” I know that customers and community need Connect Transit services now more than ever”
The customer service area of the Administration building will continue to be closed to the public until April 14, 2020 and will coincide with the temporary suspension of fare collection. Customer Service Representatives will continue to perform their telephone functions with the public.
Connect continues to monitor information about COVID-19 from CDC and Illinois Public Health Department. They are encouraging people to stay home if you are sick and not travel with Connect Transit unless it is necessary. Please wash your hands regularly and try to distance yourself from others if you are traveling with Connect. Bus service is still operating, but please continue to check www.connect-transit.com regularly for service updates.
