A second coronavirus mobile testing facility opened in McLean County.
McLean County recently opened its second mobile COVID-19 testing unit at the McLean County Fairgrounds.
The National Guard did practice runs before opening the site to the public. Tests are available to everyone, not just McLean County residents. It is a pilot program part of Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s plan to eventually test 10,000 people for coronavirus, 25 News reported.
At the new site, the tests are capped at 250 or until supplies run out. The site is being run by the National Guard.
“We see so much value in being able to increase testing capacity in Central Illinois through testing sites like this one,” said Jessica McKnight, McLean Health Department Administrator according to 25 News.
The first drive-thru testing facility opened earlier in Chicago. Tests are limited to individuals who meet certain conditions. Those who are 65 or older, patients with underlying conditions, first responders, or those experiencing symptoms such as a high fever. The test is a nose swab, and results come back after about one week.
