Illinois State House District 76 issued the following announcement on May 1
State Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa is highlighting the adjusted safety protocols for business and manufacturers that are reopening under the modified stay-at-home-order issued by the governor’s office.”
“Although the order to stay at home is still active, the changes in place will allow more people to get back to working their jobs and providing for their families, while doing so in safe ways that protect themselves and their loved ones,” said Yednock. “We want people to be as safe as possible while transitioning back to being in these public spaces. Allowing proper social distancing to be enacted in the work place will accelerate the process of allowing more and more business to open and get back to normal operation. ”
As a part of the new modified stay-at-home order, starting May 1, essential businesses and manufacturers will be required to provide face-coverings for all employees who are not able to sustain six-feet of social distancing. The state will also implement additional requirements for these businesses as well, including occupancy limits in stores and staggering shifts to ensure adequate social distancing practices are being followed. Employees can report violations that put their safety at risk by calling the Attorney General’s Workplace Rights Bureau at 844-740-5076 or emailing workplacerights@atg.state.il.us.
“These precautions will allow more workers to return to their jobs, but still offer the necessary protections,” said Yednock. “The road to recovery starts now, we will continue to implement measures that allow Illinoisans to actively return to their normal lives while making health and safety our top priority.”
