Illinois State House District 76 issued the following announcement on May 29
In an effort to highlight the sacrifices that our first responders, frontline workers, and essential employees make during this historic time, State Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, supported a resolution adopted by the Illinois House unanimously that commends all of those who have continued to work on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic to keep communities running.
“Our Illinois Valley frontline workers are nothing short of real-life superheroes,” said Yednock. “From the nurses at St. Elizabeth hospital, to the police officers throughout the Illinois Valley, to the grocery store workers, our community would not function with their hard work, commitment, and selfless dedication to their jobs and to all of us.”
House Resolution 848, which commends nurses, first responders, doctors, grocery store workers, and other essential workers who have been facing risks to keep critical services running, was successfully adopted in Springfield last week. This measure highlights essential workers, whose sacrifice makes the health and safety of us all their main priority. The measure also mourns the loss of those who have died in the line of duty because of COVID-19 and further offers the deepest appreciation and heartfelt support for the medical professionals, first responders, and all essential workers who remain on the job to keep communities and Illinois strong.
“This measure is hopefully the first of many in Springfield that addresses the sacrifices made by our most valuable neighbors,” said Yednock. “I will continue to support legislation in Springfield that provides assistance to those who need it the most as our economy continues to reopen.”
