ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 105: Rep. Brady: Agreed Covid Workers Compensation/Unemployment Insurance Bill Becomes Law

Zz

Illinois State House District 105 issued the following announcement on June 11.

This new law is good news for area businesses and workers alike,” said Representative Dan Brady (R-Normal). “Now first responders and other essential workers who have contracted Cornoavirus on the job will gave better, faster access to the assistance they need and deserve.”

Rep. Brady served on the legislative task force charged with crafting the agreement. He said the plan now signed into law is truly a cooperative effort of business leaders, labor unions, and all four caucuses of the General Assembly. In addition to focusing on presumption and expedited response to covid-related workers compensation claims, the approved agreement also helps businesses cover unemployment insurance costs.

“This plan secures federal coverage of first week’s benefits for claimants, and a total of $2.2 billion in relief for the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund,” Rep. Brady said. “Businesses will also save on unemployment insurance costs through non-charging due to layoffs.”

This is a win for all involved,” Rep. Brady concluded. “We need more cooperative efforts like this to get our communities through the recovery process.”
