ILLINOIS STATE HOUSE DISTRICT 76: Yednock Highlights COVID-19 Telehealth and Virtual Care Programs

76

Illinois State House District 76 issued the following announcement on June 26

As COVID-19 continues to have an impact on communities statewide, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is informing residents of a new Remote Patient Monitoring Program to allow sick patients to receive daily telehealth care service through the new Virtual Care Program.

“As the data shows, the vast majority of people who are diagnosed with coronavirus that have mild to moderate symptoms are fortunately able to recovery while self-isolating from home without the need of emergency services or hospitalization,” said Yednock. “Although these patients may not be in the hospital, they still deserve the quality care of medical professionals as they recover from their homes.”

Yednock is encouraging residents who are impacted by COVID-19 or those who may have loved ones who have been exposed to take advantage of telehealth services which include COVID-19 screenings, virtual visits, and wellness kits that provide significant items like thermometers, alcohol wipes, mask and other medical equipment.

Residents are eligible if they are showing symptoms and do not require hospitalization or are at a higher risk of being exposed to the virus. Telehealth services are provided in every region of the state and are available for anyone in the state, no matter what form of insurance they may have.

“These telehealth services for residents will continue to reduce the chances of medical facilities becoming over-crowded from a spike in cases, keeping our healthcare professionals as safe as possible and will create more effective means for those recovering from home, limiting their ability to expose others in their community,” said Yednock. “As our communities continue to recover and we see improvement, these services are vital to help keeping cases down from those who may have come into exposure or face a diagnosis.”
