City of Fairbury Planning Commission Met September 9

City of Fairbury Planning Commission met Sept. 9.

Here is the minutes provided by the commission:

The Planning Commission held a meeting at 12 Noon. Members present were Chairman Rick Wilson, Leroy McPherson, Michael Blackwell, and Tracy Taylor. Also, in attendance were Mayor David Slagel, City Clerk Nancy Widlacki, and Planning Commission Secretary Alex Voorheis.

Chairman Rick Wilson began the meeting with a motion to approve the minutes from the last meeting in March.

Motion by Leroy Mcpherson. Second by Michael Blackwell. Motion carried unanimously.

City Clerk Nancy Widlacki began the meeting with an update from City Superintendent Brett Ashburn, as he was not able to make the meeting.

The Nutrien Ag parcel west of town, annexed into City limits last Wednesday September 2nd.

A parcel located south of Pine St on the west side of the street at 518 S Clay St annexed into city limits as well.

John Slagel’s parcel on West Pine St annexed into City limits. Both parcels were reclassified as commercial.

Ty Eshelman from Farnsworth is working on a new City Limits comprehensive map including all of the new annexations.

In regards to the rezoned areas discussed at the last meeting in March, the council decided to not make a motion and to leave the zoned areas as is.

Chairman Rick Wilson’s term as chairman expired in April. He agreed to be reappointed as Chairman.

Motion by Tracy Taylor. Second by Leroy Mcpherson. Motion carried unanimously.

Ron Schlipf’s term as member expired in April. He has decided to not renew his term as a member. Recommendations for the open seat are welcomed. No new members were recommended at this time.

A discussion then ensued about new possibilities, potential projects, and new businesses coming to Fairbury.
