Last week Illinois Senate Republicans extended their thanks to administrative support staff in honor of Administrative Professionals Day, including Sen. Sally Turner (R-Lincoln).
A video shared on April 21 by the Illinois Senate Republican Caucus included Sens. McConchie, Stroller and many others who wanted to acknowledge administrative staff's roles in keeping a senator's office running smoothly.
"I just want to thank Barb Frobusch who is my legislative aide here in Springfield at the capitol," Turner said. "First of all, she is the most organized lady I have ever met in my life."
Turner noted that Frobusch is a former school teacher and the senator's right hand when in Springfield.
"[She] is also probably the best cook in Sangamon County which is always a wonderful thing too, for us as well," Turner continued. "I'd also like to thank my aides in my Lincoln office, and that is Renee Martin and Cassie Blue. They are two wonderful people that I appreciate so much. So thank you ladies."
Turner has recently been in the news for her skepticism of the criminal justice reform bill and how hastily it was pushed through the assembly.
"Reforms to our criminal justice system are too important to get wrong, which is why I cannot support the way this bill was created," Turner said, according to a March 16 McLean County Times article. I am disappointed by the governor’s decision to sign it into law.”
The first National Secretaries Day was organized in 1952. Over the years, the name changed to Professional Secretaries Day. In 2000, the International Association of Administrative Professionals announced that name would be changed to Administrative Professionals Day.
