City of Le Roy City Council met June 21.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order by Mayor Dean at 7:03 PM at Le Roy City Hall, 207 S. East Street, Le Roy. Council members present were Dawn Hanafin, Kyle Merkle, Ryan Miles, Ron Legner, Matt Steffen and Sarah Welte. Kelly Lay and Justin Morfey were absent. 

Staff members present were Dan Lush, Chief Williamson, Perry Mayer, Scott Bryant, Dave Jenkins and Vicki Moreland. 

Included on the consent agenda were Regular Meeting Minutes from June 7, 2021, invoices for June 21, 2021 in the amount of $89,122.47 and payroll for the period of June 18, 2021 in the amount of $43,680.25. The Minutes were removed from the consent agenda to be voted on separately. 

Motion was made by Kyle and seconded by Matt for approval of the Council Meeting Minutes with noted correction. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin yes, Kyle Merkle-yes, Ryan Miles-yes, Ron Legner-yes, Matt Steffen-yes, Sarah Welte-yes. Motion carried 6 yeas, 0 nays. 

Motion was made by Kyle and seconded by Sarah for approval of the invoices and payroll. Roll call: Dawn Hanafin-abstain, Kyle Merkle-yes, Ryan Miles-yes, Ron Legner-abstain, Matt Steffen-yes, Sarah Welte-yes. Motion carried 4 yeas, 0 nays, 2abstain. 

During staff reports Scott informed the council that the high pressure rodder pump was going out in the vactor truck. His options were to have the pump rebuilt at a cost of anywhere from $5,000 to $12,500 plus labor with a 6 month warranty or replace the pump at a cost of approximately $16,500 plus labor also with a 6 month warranty. He stated that the truck was still in good shape with a history of few repairs. After discussion it was recommended to replace with a new pump paid for out of funded depreciation. 

Motion was made by Dawn and seconded by Kyle for approval of the bid totaling $97,560.60 from McLean county Asphalt Co. LLC to complete oil and chipping road work as included within the 2021 MFT General Maintenance program. Dawn Hanafin-yes, Kyle Merkle-yes, Ryan Miles yes, Ron Legner-yes, Matt Steffen-yes, Sarah Welte-yes. Motion carried 6 yeas, O nays. 

The Council entered discussion regarding the job description for the position of Corporal. There was one applicant for the position. The majority of the discussion revolved around the shift that the Corporal would work. Chief Williamson stated the Corporal would most likely work the 2 pm to 2 am sift or 7 pm to 7 am shift The consensus of the Council was to allow the police department to decide what shift was needed to be covered by the Corporal. The job description will be on the next agenda for approval. 

Motion was made by Ryan and seconded by Matt for approval of the cancellation of the regularly scheduled council meeting on July 6, 2021. Dawn Hanafin-yes, Kyle Merkle-yes, Ryan Miles-yes, Ron Legner-yes, Matt Steffen-yes, Sarah Welte-yes. Motion carried 6 yeas, 0 nays. 

In Old and New Business Mayor Dean handed out the schedule for the Christian Motorcycle Association rally "Thunder On The Prairie" to be held July 8 through July 11, 2021. He also stated that the Mexican Restaurant in downtown Le Roy had opened. 

At 7:35 PM a motion was made by Kyle and seconded by Ryan to adjourn the regular council meeting.
