In an Oct. 17 Facebook post, Rep. Dan Caulkins put out information on Amendment 1 and showed another publication's predictions about what could happen.

Dan Caulkins was first elected to the Illinois House in 2018. A Republican, his legislative experience includes serving on the Public Utilities and Prescription Drug Affordability. Caulkins is a state representative who resides in Decatur, according to the Illinois House.

"Another look at what Amendment 1 could mean if it is adopted," Caulkins said on Facebook. “Amendment 1 is the most important vote Illinoisans will take this election," Caulkins continued.

Some outside groups are opposed to Amendment 1.

"Voter approval of the constitutional amendment would preclude any future or meaningful reform of existing laws, restrict the passage of new laws impacting collective bargaining, and may lead public safety labor unions to attempt to reclaim a right to strike," the Illinois Municipal League said in a statement.

A petition to remove Amendment 1 from the November ballot was denied in late August, according to Center Square. Caulkins revealed a link to a Center Square article that suggests strikes by public safety personnel could be coming if Amendment 1 is made law. Center Square reported this: Supporters say Amendment 1 aims to codify collective bargaining rights in Illinois for wages, work conditions, and other issues. Opponents say that the amendment would lead to higher property taxes for residents.
