Regan Deering, a Republican candidate for the 88th House District, recently notched another endorsement.

“I’m honored to have former McLean County GOP Chair Connie Beard’s endorsement. Our campaign continues to build momentum,” Deering said in a Facebook post.

Beard’s endorsement comes over a month after Deering announced her candidacy.

"Regan Deering is pro-life, pro-family, and pro-second amendment and will go to Springfield and fight for our conservative values,” Beard said in the endorsement.

Deering, a former congressional candidate and current Mount Zion school board member, announced her bid for the Illinois statehouse in the 88th House District in June. She said she will stand up for "common sense conservatives" and fight for conservative values, parental rights, and individual freedoms. Deering, a Republican, hopes to succeed state Rep. Dan Caulkins (R-Decatur). She said she has experience as a problem solver and is committed to creating success for everyone.

She recently criticized the Illinois Democratic supermajority for implementing tax increases, including the second gas tax increase of the year and the reinstatement of the 1% tax on groceries. She said such tax hikes burden residents who already face high property taxes, and calls for relief for families in need.

“It’s Fill ‘er Up Friday at our house!” she said in a June 30 Facebook post. “Tomorrow, the SECOND gas tax increase of the year takes effect. Illinois will now have the 4th highest motor fuel tax in the nation. Tomorrow we will also get back the 1% grocery tax. JB offered relief last year due to inflation, but now that the election’s over, it’s back. Of course, we know food costs are continuing to rise. We need to find REAL relief for families where they are hurting the most.”

The increase in the gas tax and the resumption of the 1% grocery tax took effect on July 1.
