Desi Anderson, a candidate for the House District 91 State Representative, has expressed her enthusiasm for the recent collaboration between Rivian and AT&T. She believes this partnership will have significant positive impacts on local communities. Anderson, who lives near Rivian’s headquarters, highlighted the potential benefits that successful businesses like Rivian can bring to their surrounding areas.
“Great news for our communities! My home is right down the road from Rivian. When businesses are successful our communities reap the benefits,” Anderson said on Facebook.
According to WGLT-TV, AT&T plans to purchase electric vans and trucks from Rivian for fleet use. This marks Rivian’s first sale of electric vans to a company other than Amazon. Previously, Rivian had announced the termination of its exclusive agreement with Amazon, which paved the way for collaborations with other businesses. As part of its sustainability strategy, AT&T is working towards including hybrid and electric vehicles in its fleet and plans to include Rivian’s R1T pickup trucks in its purchase. The pilot project is set to commence next year and includes vehicle electrification, fleet size reduction and AI optimization for route efficiency.
WGLT-TV reported on Facebook that "Rivian and AT&T have announced Rivian’s first sale of electric vans to a company other than Amazon. Rivian makes the vans in Normal."
In her September candidacy announcement, Anderson emphasized her commitment to practical, freedom-oriented approaches aimed at addressing issues faced by working families and farmers in the 91st State House District. Expressing concern about Illinois heading in the wrong direction, she stressed the need for common-sense solutions aligned with community values. Her campaign focuses on bringing positive change by prioritizing the well-being of Illinois families and placing their concerns at the forefront of legislative decisions.
The Ballotpedia district map shows that the 91st House District encompasses portions of McLean, Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.
