Decatur, IL – Today, Regan Deering, the fearless conservative candidate for State Representative, pledged to reject the taxpayer-funded pension if elected.
Deering’s action demonstrates her commitment to leading by example and prioritizing the needs of local families struggling under the weight of high taxes, soaring government spending, and brutal inflation. It also demonstrates the type of leader Regan Deering will be: one who puts the people’s interests first.
“I’m going to Springfield to fight for your interests,” pledged Regan Deering. “Too many career politicians use government to make money and amass power and fame. And We the People suffer.
Illinois families pay some of the highest property taxes in the nation and suffer under high inflation driven, in part, by uncontrolled government spending. Regan Deering's pledge addresses these challenges, offering bold leadership to families hurt by political insiders and meek politicians.
"Actions speak louder than words. I have a track record of fighting for local families and standing up to the political elites," stated Regan Deering. “We must lower property taxes. That starts with saying no to perks that public servants do not deserve and instead fighting for real, meaningful change in Springfield.”
In a report last year, the non-profit organization Wirepoints called taxpayer-funded pensions for politicians a conflict of interest. Wirepoints urged voters to “add a state candidate’s promise to reject a pension as one of the main reasons to vote for them.”
Deering is the only candidate in the 88th House District to pledge to reject the pension.
