City of Fairbury City Council met June 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of Council answered present: Gary Norris, Steve Endres, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate,  Jerry Hoffman, Jim Tipton, and Bill Schmidgall. Bruce Weber was absent.  

3. Pledge of Allegiance 

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Kinate, second by Hoselton to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:  

A. Minutes from the May 15, council meeting  

B. Voucher Invoice Register listing the bills 

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month) 

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month) 

E. Sidewalk requests as suggested by the Street Superintendent 

F. Overtime Report 

Motion carried 7-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall  

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided  comments:

➢ An Annexation hearing will be held on June 19th, 2024 

➢ The Stafford Pool passed the state inspection after an adjustment of chlorine  levels

A. Motion by Kinate, second by Schmidgall to approve Matt Schrock as City Attorney.  Motion carried 7-0 YES-Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall B. Motion by Hoselton, second by Tipton to approve purchase of new City Dumpsters.  Motion carried 7-0 YES – Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton Schmidgall  C. Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to approve design proposal for Water Treatment  Plant upgrade. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton  Schmidgall 

D. Motion by Endres, second by Hoselton to approve sewer install estimate for alley at 2nd & Oak Streets. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton  Schmidgall  

E. Motion by Endres, second by Hoselton to approve in-cab communications system for  Fire Dept. Motion carried 7-0 YES Norris Endres Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Tipton  Schmidgall
