The Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team faced challenges on the second day of the Wittenberg Fall Classic, held on August 31, 2024. The Titans (1-2) were swept by Otterbein University and narrowly lost in five sets to Baldwin Wallace University. Junior Taylor French reached a significant milestone during the match against Baldwin Wallace, becoming the 17th player in program history to achieve over 1000 career kills.

In their first match of the day, IWU fell to Otterbein with set scores of 25-16, 27-25, and 25-21. The second set was particularly close, with sophomore Eleanor Palmer contributing a solo block that temporarily put IWU ahead. However, Otterbein managed to clinch the set after a critical timeout.

Against Baldwin Wallace, IWU experienced mixed fortunes across five sets with scores of 25-22, 13-25, 28-26, 19-25, and 15-13. After losing the first set, IWU bounced back strongly in the second but eventually succumbed in extra points during the third set. Despite controlling much of the fourth set and forcing a decisive fifth set, IWU could not maintain momentum and lost narrowly.

Illinois Wesleyan now prepares for its upcoming home tournament scheduled for September 6-7 at the Shirk Center where they will compete against DePauw University, Loras College, and Webster University.
