The Illinois State track and field team participated in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific University in California. On the second day of the event, senior Mathis Chavand set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:48.14, surpassing his personal best by 30 seconds.
Senior Baptiste Tardiveau achieved a top-15 finish in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:09.91. Junior Mattison Plummer finished 12th in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:34.23, while senior Claire Fuhlhage came in 39th place with a time of 10:23.80. In the men's 10,000-meter run, junior Zack Loomis secured the 29th position with a time of 30:38.95.
Graduate student Nick Doud took 43rd place in the men's 5,000-meter run with a time of 14:22.01. Freshman Grace Erb completed her race in the women's 800 meters at position number 128 with a time of 2:14.93. Graduate student Caroline Meyers placed 28th in the women's 5,000 meters clocking at 17:19.53.
The third day of competition is scheduled to begin tomorrow at 7:30 AM PST.
