Illinois Wesleyan University has announced that three of its student-athletes have been named to the Division III PING All-America teams. The Golf Coaches Association of America revealed the selections on June 7, recognizing Bobby Beaubien, Griffin Pohl, and Michael Spitzer for their achievements in collegiate golf.
Bobby Beaubien, a fifth-year student from Barrington, Illinois, received Third Team All-America honors. This marks his second consecutive year being recognized after earning an honorable mention last season. Beaubien had the best scoring average for Illinois Wesleyan this season with 72.8 strokes per round over 28 rounds and 11 tournaments. He achieved a single-round low of 67 and secured three top-five finishes along with five top-10 placements. His accolades include winning both the CCIW Preview and the CCIW Championship, as well as being named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Men's Golfer of the Year.
Junior Griffin Pohl from Western Springs, Illinois, was awarded an honorable mention for his performance this season. He was Illinois Wesleyan's top finisher at the NCAA Division III National Championship, tying for third place—the best national finish by a Titan since 2012. Pohl recorded a scoring average of 73.0 over 28 rounds and participated in 11 tournaments. He completed five top-five finishes during the season.
Michael Spitzer, also receiving an honorable mention, is a junior from Hinsdale, Illinois. In his first year in the lineup, he averaged 73.5 strokes per round over nine tournaments. Spitzer finished runner-up at the CCIW Championship and tied for eighth at the NCAA Division III Championship.
The PING All-America Teams included players from various universities across different categories: First Team members such as Jack Burr from Huntingdon and Cameron Cappuzzo from Methodist; Second Team members like J.F. Aber from Wittenberg; Third Team members including Roy Anderson from Franklin & Marshall; and Honorable Mentions alongside Pohl and Spitzer.
PING is known for designing and manufacturing golf equipment since its founding in 1959 by Karsten Solheim in Phoenix, Arizona.
