Illinois Wesleyan ties for fifth entering final round at NCAA golf championship

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team completed the second and third rounds of the NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship on May 23 at Keene Trace Golf Club in Nicholasville, Kentucky. The Titans finished with a score of 300 on the par-72, 5846-yard course, placing them in a tie for fifth position.

Senior Emma Thorman from Macomb, Illinois, continued her consistent performance by carding an even par for the third consecutive round. With a total score of 216 over 54 holes, Thorman is currently positioned third overall in the tournament standings.

Junior Jacque O'Neill from Harbor Springs, Michigan, delivered a strong performance with a one-over-par 73. She managed to birdie her final hole and is now tied for 36th place. Senior Lexi Onsrud from Normal, Illinois, recorded a two-over-par 74 for the day and holds a share of 24th place.

Carnegie Mellon moved into first place on the team leaderboard with a score of 294, totaling 891 (298-299-294) as they head into the final round. Emory follows closely in second place with an overall score of 893 (295-296-302), while Pomona-Pitzer is in third place with a total score of 900 (305-303-292). Redlands stands in fourth position at 907 (307-298-302). Both Illinois Wesleyan University and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps are tied for fifth place with scores of 912.

The final round is set to take place tomorrow, May 24. The Green and White team will begin their tee-off at 8:50 a.m., alongside Redlands and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
