Emma Thorman, a senior from Illinois Wesleyan University, has been named an All-American Honorable Mention by the Women's Golf Coaches Association of America. The announcement was made on June 7, marking the end of the 2023-24 awards season.
Thorman completed her senior year with a record-breaking performance, achieving an average of 74.9 strokes per round over 26.5 rounds in 11 tournaments. Her achievements include six top-five finishes and eight top-10 placements, finishing in the top-20 in all but one tournament. She also recorded six rounds of par-or-better, setting a new program record for a single season.
Her notable performances include setting the program's best scores for both 54-hole and 72-hole events. At the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championship, she earned medalist honors with a three-day total score of 218. Additionally, she set a new program record at the NCAA Division III National Championship with a score of 293 over four days, becoming the first Titan to achieve a sub-300 total.
This honor adds to Thorman's impressive list of accolades which includes titles such as CCIW Champion, All-CCIW selection, WGCA All-Region honoree, and CCIW Golfer of the Week.
Thorman becomes the 11th player from Illinois Wesleyan University to receive WGCA All-American recognition. She joins previous honorees including Lexi Onsrud (Second Team - 2023), Katie Klosterman (Second Team - 2012), Rose Kelly (Honorable Mention - 2011), Lindsey Haines (Honorable Mention - 2010 & Second Team - 2009), Erica Woodall (Second Team - 2010), Taylor Paskell (Second Team - 2007 & Honorable Mention - 2006), Stephanie Morton (Honorable Mention - 2003), and Gail Nelson (First Team - 2003).
