Hannah Tellor earns CCIW Defensive Player of the Week honors

Junior Hannah Tellor of the Illinois Wesleyan University women's volleyball team has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement was made by the league on Monday, October 14. This marks the first time Tellor, a junior transfer from Metamora Township in Metamora, Illinois, has received this weekly accolade.

Tellor is the sixth player from the Titans to receive a weekly award this season and is the fourth to be recognized for defensive prowess. Other players who have been honored include Taylor French (offensive, Oct. 7), Sophia Feeney (setter, Oct. 7), Alysa Lawton (defensive, Sept. 16), and Kannyn Boyd (defensive, Sept. 9 and Oct. 7).

Throughout the week, Tellor played an integral role in both offense and defense for her team, contributing to their three consecutive victories which extended their winning streak to seven matches. She helped her team achieve a .225 hitting percentage while limiting opponents to a .114 attack percentage. As a middle hitter, she accumulated 18 kills at an average of 1.64 per set and achieved 12 total blocks with an average of 1.09 rejections per set. Additionally, she contributed seven digs, two assists, and one ace.

The week began with a sweep against Carthage College on Wednesday night, October 9, which placed Illinois Wesleyan in sole possession of first place in the standings with a perfect record of 5-0. In that match, Tellor recorded seven kills on a .417 hitting percentage along with three blocks, two digs, and one assist.

In a five-set victory over Wartburg College on Friday afternoon, October 11, Tellor added seven kills, four blocks, two digs, and one ace to her performance record for the week.

Tellor's standout performance concluded with five blocks, four kills, three digs, and one assist during a sweep against the University of Wisconsin-River Falls later that day.

The Titans are scheduled to play again on Wednesday night, October 16 at North Central College for another CCIW contest inside Gregory Arena at 7 p.m.
