In our continuous efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McLean County Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Lexington. The request specifically asks for a list of all parking violations currently unpaid in the city.

The details requested include the name of the offender, their address, the amount due, violation date, and total due. This information is vital in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.

As a media organization committed to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to such public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We await a response from the City of Lexington and will keep our readers updated with any developments. We remain committed to shining a light on local government operations and ensuring accountability at all levels.
