FOIA Request to City of Fairbury Regarding Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our continued commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at McLean County Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the City of Fairbury. The request was made for records pertaining to all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023, up until the present date.
The specific details requested include the type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address where the permit is applicable, and contractor's name. We have also asked for a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status.
Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
