McLean County Board met Dec. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Swearing-In Ceremony of the newly elected County Board members was conducted by Judge Casey Costigan on December 2, 2024 at 8:30 am.

Following the Swearing-In Ceremony, Presiding Officer County Clerk Kathy Michael called the Reorganization Meeting to order. Member Catherine Metsker gave the Invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. County Clerk Michael asked County Executive Coordinator Julie Morlock to call the roll with 18 members present and 2 members absent.

Members Present: Krystal Able, Corey Beirne, Beverly Bell, Mark Clauss, Lea Cline, Alex Duffy, Sean Fagan, Buck Farley, William John Friedrich, Eric Hanson, Elizabeth Johnston, Val Laymon, Brian Loeffler, Catherine Metsker, Mike O’Neil, Jim Rogal, Natalie Roseman-Mendoza, Geoff Tompkins.

Members Lyndsay Bloomfield and Adam Reeves were absent.

County Clerk Michael asked if there were any members of the public or county employees who would like to speak. There being none, County Clerk Michael called for nominations for the election of the Temporary Chairman of the County Board. Member Elizabeth Johnston nominated Member Lea Cline and Member Corey Beirne seconded the motion. Member Krystal Able moved to close the nominations , seconded by Member Natalie Roseman-Mendoza. By a unanimous vote, nominations were closed. A roll call vote was taken, and Member Cline was elected as Temporary Chair.

As Temporary Chair, Member Cline resumed the Reorganization Meeting calling for nominations for McLean County Board Chairman. Member Val Laymon nominated Member Elizabeth Johnston to be the McLean County Board Chair. This was seconded by Member Corey Beirne. This motion passed unanimously at which time Member Elizabeth Johnston was elected as the new McLean County Board Chair.

Newly elected Chair Johnston then asked for nominations for the McLean County Board Vice Chair. Member Krystal Able moved to nominate Member Jim Rogal and Member Lea Cline seconded. A roll call vote was taken, and Member Jim Rogal was elected as Vice Chair.

Chair Johnston continued the meeting addressing the remaining items on the Meeting Agenda.

9A.) Member Lea Cline moved and Member Geoff Tompkins seconded the motion requesting the approval of an Ordinance of the McLean County Board to Amend, Adopt and Continue the Rules of the County Board of McLean County as Contained in Chapter 20 of the McLean County Code. There was no discussion, and the motion passed with 17 yes votes and 1 no vote by Member Catherine Metsker.

9B.) Member Corey Beirne moved and Member Krystal Able seconded the motion requesting approval of an Ordinance to Amend Chapter 317 – Subdivision of Land and Chapter 350 Zoning of the McLean County Code. The motion passed unanimously.

9C.) Vice Chair Jim Rogal moved and Member Eric Hansen seconded the motion requesting approval of a Resolution Approving the Appointments to the Standing Committees, Subcommittees and the Liquor Control Commission. (distributed during the meeting)
