The Illinois Wesleyan University men's and women's wrestling teams are set to face Eureka College in duals scheduled for Friday, January 10. The event will take place at the Reagan Athletic Complex, with the first match starting at 6:30 p.m.

The men's team recently participated in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin triangular on January 6 in Milwaukee, where they competed against Carthage College and Milwaukee School of Engineering. Despite earning their first points in dual action, the Titans were defeated by Carthage with a score of 41-14 and by MSOE with a score of 42-10.

Sophomore Austin Johnston from Normal, Illinois, along with freshmen Ameer Alamawi from New Lenox, Illinois, and Evan Carel from Hamilton, Illinois, achieved their first career wins in CCIW bouts during this meet. Johnston secured five points for IWU through a technical fall against Carthage in the 141-pound category. Alamawi contributed three points with his decision win over Carthage at 149 pounds. Making his collegiate debut at 157 pounds, Carel earned six points from a pin against Carthage and added four more points against MSOE with a major decision win. Alamawi also received six points due to a forfeit against MSOE.

Johnston has been ranked sixth on the Region 6 list for the 141-pound category according to the National Wrestling Coaches Association regional rankings.

On the women's side, IWU has not yet competed this year after last participating in the North Central College Invitational on December 15. Freshmen Jurdan Tyler from Champaign, Illinois; Vanessa Gray from Burlington, Ontario; and Sifa Feruzi from Denver represented IWU at that tournament. Tyler recorded one victory via pinfall while Gray also secured one win during her collegiate debut.

Eureka's teams enter Friday's competition following their performance at the Augustana Viking Duals on January 4. The women's team posted a record of one win and three losses while the men's team ended with two losses.

Results of Friday's matches will be available on iwusports.com once concluded.
