Illinois State men's tennis sweeps doubleheader against Marquette and Eastern Illinois

Illinois State University's men's tennis team successfully completed a doubleheader on Saturday, defeating Marquette University and Eastern Illinois University at the Evergreen Racquet Club. The Redbirds won against Marquette with a score of 4-3 and triumphed over Eastern Illinois with a 6-1 victory.

Head coach Mark Klysner expressed satisfaction with his team's performance, stating, "I'm really happy how we finished the weekend. I know the guys were tired after last night's match so to come out today and pull out a couple of wins was nice and much needed. We definitely have some things to work on and get better for next weekend (Ball State)."

In their match against Eastern Illinois, Illinois State swept singles play. Against Marquette, they secured two doubles matches and three singles matches.

The Redbirds will continue their homestand by hosting Ball State University on January 25 before traveling to face Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, on January 26.

The detailed results from the matches are as follows:

Against Marquette:

- Doubles: Ahmad/Roegner (MU) defeated Scarlett/Valencia (ISU) 6-4; Capacci/Ostro (ISU) defeated Perrill/St-Laurent (MU) 7-6; Dibildox/Logue (ISU) defeated Blagoev (MU) 6-4.

- Singles: Roegner (MU) defeated Valencia (ISU); Ahmad (MU) defeated Dibildox (ISU); Ostro (ISU), Leong (ISU), Capacci (ISU) claimed victories in their respective matches.

Against Eastern Illinois:

- Doubles: White/Wiggett (EIU) defeated Scarlett/Valencia (ISU); Aldaz/Bouman (EIU) defeated Ostro/Capacci (ISU).

- Singles: Valencia, Dibildox, Ostro, Leong, Capacci, and Bevan from ISU won their respective matches.
