Illinois State University triumphed over Northern Illinois University in a dual meet held at the Convocation Center in DeKalb, Illinois. The Redbirds secured a season-high team score of 196.150, surpassing the Huskies' 192.275 on Friday night.

The score of 196.150 marks the fourth-highest team score in the history of Illinois State's gymnastics program and ranks as the third highest achieved in the past three seasons.

Coach Conkling expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "What a great night for the team, as we posted three events of a score of 49.000 or higher. I'm so proud of how they all competed with confidence and poise. We still left some points out there, so the team knows they are capable of even more as we turn our attention to our first home meet of the year on Tuesday."

The Redbirds began strong with bars, achieving a season-best score of 49.000, tying for ninth-best in program history. They maintained their lead through subsequent events: scoring 48.850 on vault, 49.200 on floor, and concluding with 49.100 on beam.

Individually, Jaye Mack tied for first place on vault with a score of 9.850; Mya Robinson and Alana Laster followed closely behind. On bars, Reese Grolla claimed victory with a score of 9.850 while Julia Heiner and Sara Wabi placed second and third respectively.

Grolla also excelled on balance beam with a winning score of 9.900, followed by Ally Lau and Mack in second and third places respectively.

On floor exercise, Laster led with a top score of 9.900; Wabi, Mack, and Kaitlyn Donovan rounded out the top four positions.

Robinson was Illinois State's sole all-around competitor, finishing second overall with a total score of 38.775.

Both teams will face off again soon when they meet in Normal, Illinois at Horton Field House for another competition scheduled for January 28th at 6 p.m.
