The Illinois Wesleyan University men's wrestling team is preparing for the NCAA Division III Region VI Wrestling Championships in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This marks the second consecutive year the team will compete at this event, which will be hosted by the American Rivers Conference at Alliant Energy Powerhouse on February 29 and March 1.

The regional championships follow the Titans' participation in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Championships on February 15 in Decatur, Illinois. During this tournament, two members of the team placed among the top five in their respective weight classes.

Senior Bobby Conroy from St. Louis finished fourth with a 3-2 record in the 184-pound category. Sophomore Austin Johnston from Normal secured fifth place with a 2-2 record in the 141-pound consolation bracket. Freshman Ameer Alamawi was recognized as IWU's CCIW RESPECT Award recipient.

Conroy and Johnston are expected to compete alongside sophomores Alex Jackson, Jeremy Olson, and freshmen Elijah Villegas, Jackson Castaneda, Evan Carel, and Chandler Gardner this weekend.

The Division III Region VI event will feature 18 teams, including five nationally ranked teams according to the latest National Wrestling Coaches' Association rankings: Wartburg (ranked fourth), Loras (tied for twelfth), Coe (tied for sixteenth), Central (twentieth), and Luther (tied for twenty-third).

The competition will take place over two days starting with preliminary rounds on Friday at 11 a.m., followed by Saturday's championship semifinals and consolation third rounds also beginning at 11 a.m.
