A thrilling day of baseball unfolded in Bloomington as Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU) claimed a doubleheader sweep against Elmhurst University. The Titans secured a decisive 10-1 victory in the first game and narrowly seized a 13-12 win in the second.
In the opener, junior Will Davidsmeier pitched seven innings, striking out seven batters and conceding just one run. Freshman Cole Benson provided support, pitching two scoreless innings. Sophomore John Philip Ferraro had a notable performance, hitting 4-for-5, while senior Tristan Figus added three RBIs from his 4-for-5 outing. The Titans amassed 20 hits against the Bluejays' four, leading to a comprehensive win.
The second game saw senior Justin Gadomski excel, going 4-for-6 and adding two RBIs. Illinois Wesleyan overcame an early deficit, eventually seizing a late lead with a three-run homer by Ferraro. Despite Elmhurst's efforts to level the scores, William Duff sealed the win with a decisive play in the ninth inning.
Illinois Wesleyan will face Elmhurst once more at Pfund Stadium Park with the next game scheduled for Sunday, April 6.
