The Illinois State track and field team concluded its participation in the Bryan Clay Invitational at Cougar Athletic Stadium in Azusa, California, on Thursday evening.
Junior Maggie Reed achieved a significant milestone in the morning session by entering the top-10 list for the women's 5000m with a time of 16:49.83, positioning her eighth in the program's history for this event. On the men's side, Junior Yusuf Baig also recorded a top-10 mark with a time of 14:02.20, placing him seventh in Redbird history. Additionally, Graduate Nick Doud posted a personal best of 14:18.31, and Zack Loomis completed his race in 14:15.17 during the evening section.
In the afternoon, Redbirds Sophomore Grace Erb and Sophomore Colleen Zeibert competed in the women's 800m invite. Erb achieved a time of 2:11.13, closely followed by Zeibert, who finished in 2:11.17.
On the men's side, Freshman Julian Baker and Sophomore Kane Shields represented Illinois State. Baker led the team with a time of 1:51.10, while Shields achieved a new personal best with a time of 1:51.51.
The Illinois State track and field team will next compete at the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor on Friday, April 18, starting at 11:00 a.m.
