The Illinois State golf team's players, Will Troy and TJ Barger, have both been named the Missouri Valley Conference Golfer of the Week. Their achievements came after their performances at the Hawkeye Invite held at Finkbine Golf Course.

The two golfers achieved scores of 212, 4-under-par, placing tied for fifth overall in a competitive field. Troy's rounds included scores of 67, 68, and 77, while Barger's rounds were 74, 66, and 72.

This marks Barger's fifth time receiving the Golfer of the Week title this season. He ranks second on the team with a stroke average of 73.2, trailing team leader Alex McCulla by one stroke. Barger's record includes 11 rounds at or below par with four top-10 finishes. His stroke average is tied for the fifth-lowest in the program's history for a junior.

Troy ranks third on the team with a scoring average of 74.1 strokes per round. He has achieved four top-10 finishes and has completed 12 rounds at or below par, placing him 11th in program history for a senior. Of his rounds, four have been in the 60s, three of which were in his last five rounds. His performance at the Hawkeye Invite was his second top-five finish this season, following another fifth-place at the Purdie Invitational in September.

The Redbirds are heading into the Missouri Valley Conference Championship, which will be held at the Des Moines Country Club in Des Moines, Iowa, from April 20-22.
