The Illinois State track and field team commenced their participation in the Michael Johnson Invitational at the Tom Black Track at LaPorte Stadium in Waco, Texas on Friday. Senior Windsor Roberts and Junior Charles Cruse represented Illinois State in the pole vault competition.
Cruse achieved a height of 5.07 meters (16-7.50), securing seventh place in the standings. Meanwhile, Roberts recorded a season-best with a clearance of 3.87 meters (12-8.25), finishing 11th in the event.
On the second day of the invitational, five Redbirds will represent Illinois State in various events. Senior Madison Saunders and Sophomore Ava Lawless are scheduled to compete in the women's triple jump at 12:00 p.m., Junior Rub Pulliam in the men's high jump at 1:00 p.m., and Freshmen Astor Snaider and Victor Byaundaombe in the men's triple jump at 2:30 p.m. All event times are in Central Standard Time.
The competition will continue on Saturday, April 19, with activities commencing at 10:30 a.m.
