Illinois State junior Tin Ostro has been named the Summit League Men's Tennis Scholar of the Championships, as announced by the league office. Ostro, who hails from Zagreb, Croatia, received this distinction in recognition of his academic and athletic achievements.

Head coach Mark Klysner expressed his admiration for Ostro's accomplishment. "I couldn't be more proud of Tin receiving this award. This is a very prestigious honor and Tin is deserving as anyone could be to receive this award. I'm so happy for him and again it's well deserved," stated Klysner.

The Scholar of the Championship award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative undergraduate grade-point average among participants in each of the Summit League's 19 championships. Each participating institution can nominate one candidate for the award.

Ostro heads into the Summit League Championships with an 8-11 singles record and a 2-1 doubles record alongside Tomas Valencia. Notable victories include a decisive 6-4, 6-1 win against Marquette's Remi St. Laurent and a tie-breaking victory over Western Michigan's Brogan Pierce with scores of 7-5, 1-6, 7-6.

In the previous season, Ostro earned All-Summit League First Team Honors and was selected for the Summit-League Academic All-League team. His record last year was 13-9 in singles, including a 3-2 record in Summit League matches.

Ostro and the fourth-seeded Redbirds will face the top-seeded Denver Pioneers in the Summit League Championships semifinal. The match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. CT, with Ostro set to receive his award before play begins in Denver.
