Junior Nora Cerroni and sophomore Gigi Zera helped the Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team secure fifth place after the opening round of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Invite, held at TPC Wisconsin in Madison on Sunday. The Titans, currently ranked 12th nationally, posted a team score of 325 on the par-72 course.
Cerroni finished the day tied for third individually with a three-over-par 75. She was one-under over her final eight holes and recorded birdies on holes five, 15, and 16. "Nora Cerroni holds a share of third-place individually. She fired a three-over 75 after going one-under over her final eight holes of the day. The junior picked up birdies on holes five, 15, and 16 as IWU's top scorer on the day." Two strokes behind, Zera is tied for seventh after carding a five-over-par 77.
Pomona-Pitzer leads the tournament among the 17 teams with a seven-over-par score of 295. Ann Zhao and Annabelle Chan from Pomona-Pitzer both shot even-par rounds to tie for first out of 93 players. UW-Stout is second with a score of 312, followed by Aurora (323), Dubuque (324), and Illinois Wesleyan (325).

Other Illinois Wesleyan individual results include Emily Gastrau tied for 42nd with an 86, Brooke Erhard and Julia Henry tied for 47th with scores of 87, and Grace Fagan and Ashley Wells tied for 51st at 88.
