City of Pontiac City Council met Sept. 2.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

The regular meeting of the Pontiac City Council was held on September 2, 2025. Mayor Eckhoff called to order the meeting of the City Council at 7:00 P.M.

The City Clerk was directed to call roll, and the following members of the Council were present: Giovanini, Barr, Gill, S. Hoerner, A. Hoerner, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille. The following Council were absent: Causer

*Presentation was made by Police Chief Davis to Officer Tryen Mitchell for his life- saving training to safe a resident.

CONSENT AGENDA

Motion was made by Gill, seconded by Cranford to approve the consent agenda.

On a roll call vote motion carried 9 Aye, o Nay. Aye votes recorded. Giovanini, Barr, Gill, S. Hoerner, A. Hoerner, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

REGULAR AGENDA

A. Community Enrichment

Liz Vicent introduced the new team member, Cheyanne Kreuch. She will be part of the main street media and events coordinator. Cheyanne talked to the council about her vision for main street, her short- and long-term goals, and her excitement for the future. No vote.

B. Approval - Change Order #1 Pickleball Sewer Work

City Administrator Woolford gave an update on the pickleball court and the sewer issue they discovered which will add an expense to the project. Discussion held. Motion was made by Bradshaw, seconded by Gill to approve the added expense for the pickleball court. On a roll call vote, motion carried 9-0. Aye Votes recorded, Giovanini, Barr, Gill, S. Hoerner, A. Hoerner, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

C. Ambulance Transfer

Due to the technological issues from the last meeting, Chief Campbell followed up with what the expectation will be going forward. They will still transfer 911 calls and transfers

in town.

No Vote.

D. Approval - Speed Reduction School Zone Designation (Grace Christian)

Chris Brock presents the speed reduction designation on Indiana Ave at Grace Christian School. The device will extend to Indiana Ave and Cimmeron Drive.

Motion was made by Wille, seconded by Howard to approve the sign designation. On a roll call vote, motion carried 9-0. Aye Votes recorded. Giovanini, Barr, Gill, S. Hoerner, A. Hoerner, Cranford, Bradshaw, Howard and Wille.

E. Discussion - Commercial Outdoor Christmas Tree

City Administrator Woolford presents the commercial outdoor Christmas tree options to the council. Discussion was held on whether to have a real tree or a fake tree. No Vote.

F. Information - Police Firearms

Chief Davis informed the city council members that the firearms that the police officers use will potentially have to be changed before the cycle of firearms is up. Discussion held. No Vote.

G. First Quarter Financials

City Administrator Woolford presented the first quarter financials to the city council. No vote.

Mayor Comments

Mayor Eckhoff gave an update on Centennial Plaza as construction begins this week. Also, there are three days of Conversation with Kelly this week.

Administrator Comments

City Administrator Woolford stated that the bid on electric supply has a fixed rate that is saving the city money. Also, that committee meetings are needed to be scheduled.

Council Comments

Alderman A. Hoerner had comments about the golf course, discussion by city council members held. Alderman Giovanini had some calls about dogs running loose. Alderman Barr is wondering about the Route 66 grant.
