City of Pontiac Public Properties Committee met Sept. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Public Properties Committee meeting was held Monday September 8th, 2025 at 5:00 pm at the City Hall Council Chambers

Present were: Chair, Causer, Giovanini, A. Hoerner, and Gill, also present were Mayor Eckhoff, Superintendent Brock, Superintendent Duncan, Director Vincent, Director Knowles and City Administrator Woolford.

Sewer Plant

Duncan discussed the steps that have been taken to comply with the EPA compliance commitment agreement on nitrates that the plant has not been regularly able to meet EPA imposed limits. Duncan believes that the solution is in added processes and possibly added plant development. Duncan has been working with design engineers from Farnsworth Group to get biological systems operating at peak performance since the redesign of the plant. The committee determined Duncan should get Farnsworth to speak to the City Council as there is no consensus between Duncan and Farnsworth prior to beginning alternate solution procedures.

Fell Park Bandstand

Brock discussed the state of the Fell Park bandstand. The base is in good shape as well as the roof but the surface needs reconstructed. The committee requested Brock determine the work necessary and cost of the project. Fell Park is in TIFI.

Block 59

Pavilion

Previous discussions were held regarding building a flat concrete area estimated to be $60,000 and build a pavilion over it to house the ice rink and be used for other programming. The committee determined the cost at this time does not align with City priorities.

Shoppes

The committee discussed the incubator purpose of the shoppes has not produced the desired results and it is time to move on from the idea. One potential use is for restrooms at the golf course and the Rec Plex and to maintain one for skate rentals.
