Illinois State University's women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games after a scoreless draw against Evansville on Sunday at Adelaide Street Field.
During the first half, Illinois State had a 5-2 advantage in shots. In the last ten minutes before halftime, sophomores Eve Gricius and Rylie Monohan each forced saves from Evansville's goalkeeper, but neither team scored before the break.
Early in the second half, sophomore Kaya Durkee delivered a corner kick to freshman Grace Petrie, whose shot deflected off the woodwork. Senior Abby Hall attempted to score on the rebound, but her effort also hit the crossbar.
Despite continued pressure and an 8-3 shot advantage for Illinois State in the second half, neither team managed to find the net. The match ended 0-0.
The Redbirds are now unbeaten through their first four conference games this season, marking their longest such start since 2019. The current six-game unbeaten run is also their longest under head coach Raleigh DeRose and matches their best stretch since 2019.
Illinois State recorded its eighth shutout of the season—also a high mark under DeRose and matching their most since 2019. Redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Madi Valenti earned her twelfth career shutout and is now one away from tying Sasha Reiber (2008-09) for fifth all-time in program history.
In each of their last three matches, Illinois State has registered double-digit shot totals, equaling their best streak of offensive output this season.
