Illinois Wesleyan women’s golf leads by wide margin entering CCIW championship final round

The Illinois Wesleyan University women's golf team expanded its lead during the second round of the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Championship, held at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Illinois. The event took place on Tuesday, October 7, with the Titans recording a team score of 297 for the round. This performance put them 26 strokes ahead of North Central College.

Junior Emily Gastrau maintained her position at the top of the individual leaderboard after shooting a two-over-par 73 in the second round, resulting in a total score of 146 over 36 holes. Sophomore Gigi Zera moved into second place following her own two-over-par 73. Junior Nora Cerroni finished the day in fifth place with a three-over-par 74. Freshman Julia Henry, competing in her first CCIW Championship, currently holds sixth place with a total score of 152.

Illinois Wesleyan's team stands at a combined score of 598 after two rounds. North Central is in second place with a total score of 624 after posting a second-round score of 309. Augustana College occupies third place with a total score of 631.

The final round is scheduled to begin at 10:48 a.m. on Wednesday, October 8, at Metamora Fields Golf Club.
