Illinois Wesleyan University sophomore Gigi Zera has been named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Golfer of the Week, according to an announcement from the league office on Wednesday, October 8. This is the second time this season that Zera has received this weekly honor.
Zera was the top performer for Illinois Wesleyan at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Fall Invite, which took place from September 29-30 at TPC Wisconsin. The course played as a par-72 over 5,680 yards. Zera finished in fourth place overall after shooting a 77 in the first round and following it with a one-over-par 73 in the final round. This result marks her fourth career top-five finish. Her final round score of 73 matches her career-low for an 18-hole round, a mark she has achieved four times during this fall season. Zera's performance helped lead Illinois Wesleyan to a third-place team finish.
The Illinois Wesleyan Titans women's golf team is currently aiming for their fourth straight CCIW Championship at Metamora Fields Golf Club in Metamora, Illinois.
