Illinois State University's swimming and diving team is set to compete in the Eastern Classic, a two-day event hosted by Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The meet will feature Illinois State facing off against both Eastern Michigan and Toledo. Competition begins Friday at 9 a.m. CST and continues Saturday at 3 p.m. CST.
This marks the Redbirds' first road trip of the 2025-26 season following their recent win over Quincy on October 3, where they secured victory in 12 events and finished with a score of 180-72.
Graduate student Mia Snow started her season with wins in the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. In the 50-yard freestyle, Snow led a podium sweep for Illinois State with a time of 24.20 seconds.
Sophomore Hope Westphal won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:05.33 and also claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle at 5:24.34.
Freshman Ava Osterndorf began her collegiate career by winning both the 100-yard breaststroke (1:07.53) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:24.52).
Senior Chloe Tyler recorded wins in both backstroke events, taking first place in the 100-yard backstroke (58.08) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.87). Junior transfer Bailey Gott finished second to Tyler in both races during her debut as a Redbird.
