The Illinois Wesleyan University women's tennis team was defeated by Wheaton College, 5-2, in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) match held Friday at the Evergreen Racquet Club in Bloomington.

Wheaton College won all three doubles matches to take an early lead. The Thunder then secured the overall victory with wins in four of the six singles matches. Illinois Wesleyan's freshman Elana Religioso came back to win her match against Sophie Dew at No. 5 singles, 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). Sophomore Gabi Lipske added another point for the Titans with a straight-set win over Tatum Thurstone at No. 2 singles, 7-5, 7-5.

The Titans' record now stands at 6-4 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Wheaton improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the CCIW.

Illinois Wesleyan will next play on the road against North Park University on Saturday, October 11. The match is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m.
