The Illinois State University swim and dive team concluded its participation in the Eastern Classic at Jones Natatorium in Ypsilanti, Michigan, on Saturday afternoon.
The Redbirds secured a victory in the 200-yard medley relay. The A squad—composed of Chloe Tyler, Ava Fris, Mia Snow, and Ella Turken—posted a season-best time of 1:43.27. This result matches the 10th fastest time recorded in program history.
Graduate student Mia Snow achieved first place in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 53.70 seconds. Senior Ella Turken finished fourth in the same event with her best mark this season at 57.05 seconds. Snow also won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.63 seconds, while Turken placed third at 51.41 seconds.
In the morning session, Illinois State’s A squad—consisting of Kayla Kieffel, Sydney Dameworth, Turken, and Snow—finished third in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:34.96.
Sophomore Avery Watson led Illinois State in the 400-yard individual medley by finishing fifth with a time of 4:43.62. Freshman Megan Sego placed sixth at her second collegiate meet with a mark of 4:47.84.
Sophomore Amelia Murphy finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, recording her fastest time this season at 1:53.11.
Freshman Ava Ostendorf was Illinois State’s top finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke with a sixth-place finish and a mark of 1:08.62; junior Shelby Gourley set her season-best at 1:09.76 to finish seventh.
Senior Chloe Tyler was runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke with her best performance this season at 56.48 seconds.
Sophomore Hope Westphal took fifth place in the grueling 1650-yard freestyle event by clocking in at 17:38.82.
Senior Giulia Basco earned third place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:08.09; Watson posted another season-best performance for sixth place at 2:10.83.
In diving events, junior Selena Corona secured third place on the three-meter board with a score of 215.20 points.
