The Illinois Wesleyan University women's soccer team secured a 3-0 win against Augustana College at Neis Field on Wednesday, marking their first College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) victory of the season. The Titans improved their record to 6-6-2 overall and 1-2-1 in conference play, while Augustana dropped to 3-9-2 and remains winless in CCIW matches.
Sophomore goalkeeper Vanessa Gray played nearly the entire match, making five saves over 82 minutes before being replaced by sophomore Ella Randall, who added one save in the final minutes. Illinois Wesleyan outshot Augustana with a total of 35 attempts, including 20 shots on target compared to Augustana's six.
During the first half, junior Sophie Lampert narrowly missed an open shot from 18 yards out in the 29th minute. Three minutes later, senior Jenna Gravitt took a free kick from 25 yards that struck the crossbar but did not result in a goal.
In the early stages of the second half, sophomore Liza Wiley scored off a corner kick after receiving a cross from senior Kayley Carew. Wiley added her second goal in the 76th minute following an assist sequence involving Gravitt and junior Ava Mapes. This marked Wiley’s fourth career game with multiple goals.
Mapes later contributed another goal for Illinois Wesleyan in the 82nd minute, capitalizing on a rebound from an earlier shot by Gravitt to extend the lead to three.
Illinois Wesleyan is scheduled to play Elmhurst University next on Saturday, October 18. The match will also serve as Senior Day for four Titan players who will be recognized before kickoff at Neis Field.
