Analysis: Bloomington pays $5.45 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Bloomington Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 84.5 percent of the $5,225,267 the Bloomington Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.45 for every $1 from pension members, according to a McLean County Times analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Bloomington contributed $4,416,266 to the fund, which saw a $475,958 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $808,931, or 15.5 percent, in 2016. Another $70 came from other unspecified sources.
