Flanagan-Cornell District 74 students suspended 19 times in a single school year

Flanagan-Cornell District 74 reported 19 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 19 students during the year. That equates to 5.4 percent of the 349 students enrolled.

Of the 16 in-school suspensions, all were given to boys.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for violence without physical injury. The category includes nine incidents. There were five incidents of unspecified reasons. For 11 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes two incidents. There were one incidents of violence that caused physical injury. For two incidents, students were suspended for 1-3 days.
