City of Fairbury City Council met July 5.

Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

1. Call to order – Mayor Slagel called the meeting to order.

2. Mayor Slagel directed the Clerk to call roll and the following members of

Council answered present: Gary Norris, Charles Hoselton, Jon Kinate, Gerald Hoffman, Lynn Dameron. Nancy Gerdes-Hibsch, Bruce Weber and Bill Schmidgall were absent.

3. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag

4. Motion to approve the Consent Agenda – Motion by Dameron, second by Hoffman to approve the following items on the Consent Agenda:

A. Minutes from the 20, 2018, council meeting

B. Board Report listing the bills

C. Treasurer’s Cash Report (second meeting of the month)

D. Check Register (second meeting of the month)

E. None

F. Overtime Reports

5. Mayor Slagel opened Public Comment and the following persons provided comments:

→ Street Superintendent/Fire Chief Steidinger was absent

→ Sewer Superintendent Duncan was absent

→ Water Superintendent Ifft was absent

→ Chief of Police Travis’ report included in council packet; reported

• A senior officer in his department lost his father in a motor vehicle accident this morning

• Jax will be finished training next week

• Officer Lisewski is in his 2nd week at the Academy

→ City Superintendent Ashburn reported

• Employee health insurance rates came in lower than expected

→ City Attorney Mason was absent

A. Motion by Norris, second by Kinate to approve the City’s membership in the Fairbury Area Chamber of Commerce at an annual of $650. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Dameron

B. Motion by Hoselton, second by Norris to approve Resolution No. 2018-7-5 amending Resolution No. 2000-2-16B as it pertains to employee health insurance. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Dameron

C. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve Ordinance No. 2018-17 Fixing The Compensation Of Certain Employees Of The City Of Fairbury. Motion carried 5-0. YESNorris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Dameron

D. Motion by Kinate, second by Norris to approve Policy No. 1.6, Canine Usage, for the Fairbury Police Department. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Dameron

E. Motion by Kinate, second by Dameron to approve an agreement for Electric Service based on pricing from Homefield Energy to run from December 2018 until December 2021. Motion carried 5-0. YES-Norris Hoselton Kinate Hoffman Dameron
