CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL OF ILLINOIS BLOOMINGTON: OSF Saint Francis Recognized for Nursing Excellence

Nurse

Children's Hospital of Illinois Bloomington issued the following announcement on Nov. 26.

OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center has once again received Magnet Recognition for excellence in nursing. This latest designation means the Medical Center is one of only 58 health care organizations in the country to have received the honor four times in a row.

“Our fourth Magnet designation is confirmation of the outstanding care OSF Saint Francis nurses provide to our patients,” says Jennifer Hopwood, chief nursing officer. “Our nurses continue to exceed national benchmarks in quality and safety. This designation recognizes the actions we’ve taken to advance the profession of nursing through leadership, innovation, clinical excellence and research.”

Magnet Recognition from the American Nurses Credentialing Center is the highest and most prestigious distinction a health care organization can receive for nursing excellence and high-quality patient care. It’s earned by only 8 percent of U.S. hospitals.

Hospitals must reapply for the status every four years with each facility providing evidence of excellence and undergoing a site visit that verifies all documentation, nursing satisfaction and engagement. Hopwood notes that OSF Saint Francis invests in the re-designation because it keeps the hospital on a trajectory of excellence.
