Children's Hospital of Illinois Bloomington issued the following announcement on Dec. 7.
OSF Mission Partners wrap up gifts of joy for foster children
Part of the fun and elation of Christmas is finding a present under the tree. Now, thanks to the generosity of OSF HealthCare Mission Partners in the Rockford region nearly 300 foster children will be able to experience that.
For more than 20 years, OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center and its area facilities have participated in the "Adopt-an-Angel" program of the Foster Care Alliance of Winnebago and Boone Counties.
Tags were distributed to Mission Partners that provided information on a foster child - including a wish list of gifts each would like to find under their tree. Carefully chosen and wrapped, the presents filled a room for collection by Foster Care Alliance volunteers this past week.
"This is a project that we do through our Mission Outreach Team", says Christy Eldridge, Patient Experience Manager at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center. "So, to be able to see all of the outpouring of generosity. Not just from Mission Partners from the medical center, but we had collaboration with our Medical Group offices. So, Poplar Grove, Belvidere, Guilford Square, Rock Cut - I mean everybody came together to make this happen."
The nearly 300 gifts donated by OSF Mission Partners will be added to presents provided by 50 other business and companies participating in "Adopt and Angel" to guarantee 27 hundred foster children have a joyful Christmas.
