City of Pontiac Public Library Board of Trustees met May 13. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Pontiac Public Library Board of Trustees met on May 13, 2019. President Connie Snyder called the meeting to order at 5:30pm.


The roll was answered by Bruce Koerner, Curt Myers, Connie Snyder, Nancy Milhauser and Kathy McLean. Director, Kristin Holzhauer was not present at May board meeting.

Consent Agenda:

Trustees reviewed the minutes and paid bills from April. Curt Myers moved to accept the minutes and bills as presented. Nancy Milhauser seconded. All voted in favor, motion carried.

Correspondence:

Director’s Report:

      • Volunteer hours: Mary Tronc – 20 Connie Kostelec – 2

      • Kristin submitted request for tuition reimbursement. She was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi through San Jose University. She has completed the spring semester.

      • Spring book/bake sale raised over $500.00.

      • There have been issues with using Go Daddy’s email service and the cost to upgrade is approximately $500.00 more. Kristin is exploring other options for the library.

      • Kristin provided a presentation to the Athenia Club on May 10 as their theme for this year is “Lose Yourself in a Book”. The group toured the library and learned about services the library provides for the community.

      • Central School visited the library the week of May 20th. They enjoyed story time, a craft and a tour of the library.

      • The library will be partnering with the Livingston County War Museum for a program called “The Human Library Project”. The program will feature area veterans and highlight stoies from their times in combat.

      • Registration for the 2019 Summer Reading Program will begin May 28 and run through June 15. The launch party is scheduled for June 8 10am-12pm. The first daily activities will begin June 10th. A highlight of the event will be a performance by the Jesse White Tumblers on July 2nd.

Committee Updates:

Finance Committee:

No report

Building and Grounds Committee:

Committee did not meet but Bruce reported that ADA compliant signs are ready to be mounted. The new Library sign from Diaz Sign Art has been mounted.

Management Committee:

Committee met to discuss changing personnel issues

Old Business: VOIP phone update will be discussed at future meeting. Summer Reading Program was addressed in Director’s Report

New Business: Explore More Illinois is a new program offered by Rails. Anyone with a library card can access the website.

Trustee Closing Comments: The Board Members are pleased to see that several new monetary donations have been added to the bookshelf wall.

Nancy Milhauser moved to adjourn the meeting, Bruce Koerner seconded the motion. All agreed, motion passed.
